Abosede Omolare has stabbed the man after he beat her and threatened to kill her with a broken bottle
The couple planned to marry this winter, police investigation has begun
The Ogun state police has arrested Abosede Omolare for allegedly stabbing her fiance Sadiq Dauda to death during an argument at Onirugba street in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday, October 18.
According police reports, the incident was provoked by mismanagement of funds from the gas business which the late Mr Dauda entrusted to Ms Omolare.
Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, reported that the couple was living together and planned their wedding in December.
However, after quarrel the man allegedly beat his girlfriend and sent her away.
Soon afterwards Mr Dauda’s mother intervened and asked the woman to return home and deal with the matter together. As soon as she arrived home — tragedy unfolded.
Mr Oyeyemi said: “She stated that immediately she got home, her fiance descend on her, beat her mercilessly and broke a bottle with which he threatened to stab her.
She admitted that it was then she took a kitchen knife and stabbed him on the rib.”
Police officers rushed Mr Dauda to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital where he died on Wednesday, October 19.
The case had been transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligent department for further investigation.
