Osinbajo set to deliver lecture at Harvard University

Osinbajo is in the US on the invitation of Harvard University, Boston

Osinbajo will speak in the university’s lecture series tagged ‘Nigeria in the World’,  talking on “Destroying Boko Haram and the Rebuilding of Nigeria’s Northeast.”  

According to the vice president’s media aide, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo’s lecture would be a clarion call for a more concerted global action against terrorism and an increasingly effective international collaboration regarding the humanitarian crisis in the Northeast. 

Harvard’s ‘Nigeria in the World’ seminar, hosted by the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs serves as a forum for scholars, researchers, policy makers, and professionals to reflect on critical issues pertaining to Nigeria’s relations with the world by focusing on strategic issues of security, regional stability, economic development, interreligious relations, health policy, human rights, justice, and gender. 

Its overarching goal is to bring Nigeria into dialogue with world issues. While in Harvard, Osinbajo will also visit the Divinity School and the African Studies Center. 

On Friday, October 28, the vice president would participate in a town-hall event, and also a business conference organised by US-based Nigerians on Infrastructural development issues. He would round up the visit in Houston by attending a gala to honor high flying US-based Nigerians in the evening. He is expected back to the country on Sunday, October 30.  

Meanwhile, Osinbajo has promised Nigerians that there will be 7,000 megawatts of electricity at the first quarter of 2017. He said this in Abeokuta, Ogun state while declaring open, the 8th Session of the national council on industry, trade and investment.
